Couples/Relationship Therapy

Contemplative Couples/Relationship Therapy

We humans thrive, but can also suffer in relationship. Couples/pairs may seek out therapy at times of great tension and distress, having lost connection. Other couples/pairs may want to explore and deepen their togetherness and find the most effective way to communicate.

In contemplative couples/relationship therapy we can explore how to

  • communicate effectively
  • connect on a deeper (soul) level
  • resolve conflicts and distance
  • understand our attachment styles and history
  • deal with affairs/betrayals
  • understand our needs and work out how to meet them
  • and, while I'm not a psychosexual therapist or sex-therapist, we can look at the physical connection

Contemplative Couples/Relationship Therapy is a collaboration of all participants. Usually we review the work after six sessions. Sessions will be 75 or 90 minutes, usually weekly, with the option to draw these out to fortnightly/monthly towards the end stages of therapy.

I have extensively worked with individuals on their relationship issues and have an NCIP Accredited Certificate in Working with Couples. I work with adults of all any ages, races, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity or expression, and sexual orientation and couple-combination (this could be a married or unmarried couple, or friends, a parent with an adult child or adult siblings).

I am a UKCP accredited Core Process Psychotherapist with an MA in Mindfulness Based Psychotherapeutic Practice (MBPP) from the Karuna Institute and Middlesex University and additional certificate in Couples Therapy with Juliet Grayson.

The training at the Karuna Institute is deeply rooted both in Western psychotherapy and in Buddhist philosophy. I adhere to the ethics and the code of practice of the UKCP. A member and former trustee of the CSTA, I have been a Craniosacral Therapist (CST) since 2007, have worked as a tutor, coordinator and director at a CST teaching clinic and am a CSTA accredited supervisor for complementary therapists. I have a contemporary dance and performance background.

What is the next step?

After an initial contact per phone or email we organise a first meeting/session (this can be online or in person) with you both to establish whether we feel we can work together. I then meet with you individually for some background, before coming together again.

If we decide to work together, we establish a regular time and day when we meet.

Sessions last either 75 or 90 minutes and can be weekly. The fee for couple sessions is either £125 (75 minutes) or £150 (90 minutes), and individual £75 (60 minutes).

Bookings can only be confirmed upon payment of the fee.

Cancellation policy: The full fee is due for cancellations with less than 48 hours notice.
