Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
- a subtle yet profound therapy
_________________________
Like many people I discovered craniosacral therapy as a client and appreciated the experience so much I decided to become a practitioner.
We work with the underlying systems that regulate our health. Being one inseparable being one aspect influences all others - craniosacral therapy works on different levels at the same time, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual (however the sacral in craniosacral refers to the sacrum, the large, flat triangular shaped bone nested between the hip bones). There is a possibility to use this work as a practice to encourage deepening of experience and integration of the heart-mind-body-spirit-soul connection.
I have experience working with:
The way I work includes no manipulation; I don't attempt to physically move any bones or body tissues, nor send my own energy through your body. This enables your system to work at your inherent pace without re-traumatisation. BCST is safe and suitable for all ages, from very young babies and children, teenagers and adults to the very elderly and fragile. Craniosacral therapy can work well alongside other forms of medicine, therefore I am happy to work in collaboration with other health practitioners, including psychotherapists.
Difficult experiences are well known to be expressed in the body as tension or pain. Our body tries to balance around disturbances and this can give rise to additional symptoms or illnesses that cannot easily be explained. Sometimes we need support; with a light and gentle hold BCST supports our own natural resources, and our body's intelligence is able to re-connect to our innate strength wherever we are in life.
Early development and how this affects us is of deep interest to me.
Even though biodynamic craniosacral therapy is mainly touch-based, I also work with breath and visualisation, both of which can assist you to engage you body's own healing powers even beyond the treatment room. You may experience your body in a totally new way; you may have a sense of tingling in your head, body or arms and legs. You may have the sense of flowing, deep relaxation or widening, access a profound meditative state or you may just feel very relaxed - it's very individual.
Please note: Even though we often treat patients for problems that have not responded to other treatment, having craniosacral therapy is not a substitute for medical tests or treatment by conventional western medicine. I will not ask or council you to cancel surgery or to stop taking your medication.
"Stress creates inflammation throughout the body which is the basis for many chronic diseases. Reduction in inflammation is a key reason for the improvement in symptoms.
Here is the sequence:
(1) Craniosacral work releases stress.
(2) Inflammation is reduced.
(3) Symptoms are relieved."
